Using our proprietary IBS coating technology, we produce high-performance, durable optics with ultra-low absorption and scatter. We have designed and produced a wide variety of multi-wavelength, multi-functional optics, many of which have become the enabling elements in state-of-the-art laser resonators and laser systems.

AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE
Aerospace and defense firms working on high energy laser and directed energy programs depend on MLD. We have the world class design, production experience, metrology resources and program management needed for success. MLD has supplied numerous low-loss components for these demanding applications, including coatings on deformable mirrors.
MLD is known for high-performance coatings on large optics. We have scaled up our IBS process to provide coatings on substrates up to 20 inches in diameter. Astronomy, directed energy and surveillance programs now have access to stable, low-loss IBS coatings on larger optical elements than ever before.
SPACE QUALIFIED OPTICS
Our IBS technology provides coatings for satellite optics which are insensitive to temperature cycling, show virtually no spectral performance shift between vacuum and atmospheric conditions, and are radiation resistant and radiation hardened.

NON-LINEAR CRYSTAL COATINGS
Low-loss, durable ion beam sputtered coatings are essential to facilitate the efficient use of crystals in photonic products. MLD has extensive experience designing and producing a variety of multi-frequency AR and HR coatings for crystals, including PPLN, RTP, LBO, BBO, BIBO, KTP and KDP. While protecting the optical surfaces from mechanical abrasion, our IBS films also provide an effective water vapor barrier for hygroscopic crystals.
We are leaders in producing coatings for UV optics. Our IBS coatings exhibit minimum light scattering and absorption in this short wavelength spectral region. In addition, we precisely control the very thin layers needed to optimize deep UV coating performance for use in semiconductor equipment.
